Monday's Winners & Tuesday's Contest

Time's up! Thanks everyone for the wonderful response to my new Myspace page. I hope to use it to spread the word about Sally Jane Vintage as well as bring you super sneak previews and exclusive photos. And now for the winners...

Lily from Michigan, Laurenn from the UK and Vivian the Koneko Kitten from California

If you are one of these lovely ladies, I've left a message for you on your Myspace page. You'll be getting a little package in the mail soon! Thanks again. :)

And now for Tuesday's contest...

Over the past few weeks I've been collecting vintage knick-knacks, accessories and any little thing that caught my eye and storing them in a pretty hat box. It can all be yours if you just answer these five questions (leave your answers in the comments). Hint: All of the answers can be found in the archives of the blog.
  1. By now I think everyone has figured out that Sally Jane is not my real name. Where did the name Sally Jane come from?
  2. Name three movies that have influenced the way I view fashion.
  3. Who was the very first “It Girl of the Month”?
  4. I’m currently living in Lancaster, PA but where did I live before that?
  5. Name three albums that I could listen to over and over.

Tomorrow I'll collect all the correct answers and randomly pick one to win the hat box! You're on the honor system ladies - no copying. Besides, you never know if someone else got all the right answers. Thanks as always for reading and go0d luck! :)

Four Questions...
Imagine my delight when I was tagged by the always inspiring Liebemarlene with this meme that's been making the blogging rounds. So with no further delay, here's a little more about me...

1. What’s the story behind the name of your blog and your nickname?

The name Sally Jane comes from a childhood nickname. My Dad called me nothing but Sally Jane for years when I was young. As a kid, I always had my nose in a book and would read anything I could get my hands on including the old primary school readers stacked on the shelves at my grandparent’s house. You know the ones – all about Sally, Dick and Jane. “Run, Sally, run! See Sally run!” Like I said, I’d read just about anything. I suppose I was lucky no one was calling me Dick. As for the “vintage” part, I’ve always had an affinity for all things vintage: clothes, shoes, books, housewares, linens, you name it.

2.Name three movies that have influenced the way I view fashion.

MONDAY, AUGUST 20, 2007
When Fashion Meets Film
Musical numbers aside, “Funny Face” has to be one of the greatest fashion films of all times.
After she married Frank and before she got involved with Woody, Mia Farrow donned amazing little dress after amazing little dress all while battling the ultimate evil in “Rosemary’s Baby” .

Amy Heckerling created a time-capsule of a movie with “Clueless”, capturing all the nuances of fashion in the mid-nineties.

3. Who was the very first “It Girl of the Month”?

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1, 2007
Miss August
One of the great things about living in LA has to be people watching. My daily existence in West Hollywood has given me a unique perspective on the phenomenon that is the parade of self-absorbed starlet after self-absorbed starlet we see splashed on every newsreel and magazine cover. In that vapid sea of spray-on tans and hair extensions it is refreshing to see what appears to be a gal with her own sense of self and style. Her accessible beauty and kooky, original style is what makes her our inaugural “IT Girl of the Month”. Plus, who can resist a girl that loves to rock my favorite outfit - a vintage dress and black tights. With no further adieu I present to you Ms. Zooey Deschanel. She does cute without being “cutesy” and kitsch with out being “kitschy” better than any one else out there. She possesses a bit of that Old Hollywood charm that so many young starlets reach for but never quite obtain. And of course, there's that other little thing that so many young starlets strive for – talent! So, thank you Zooey for being an inspiration.

4. I’m currently living in Lancaster, PA but where did I live before that?
